Zaalim Badshah Daqyanus Ka Daur Aur Nojawanon Ka Iman
A Tyrant King There was a cruel king named Daqyanus who would have anyone killed who refused to worship idols. One day, a group of young men came to witness the execution of believers. Allah Almighty removed the veils from their eyes, and they saw that every time a believer was killed, angels would descend from the sky and carry their soul away. Witnessing this faith-inspiring scene, all those young men accepted Islam.
Three Days’ Reprieve When King Daqyanus learned of this while on a journey, he gave them 3 days to renounce their faith upon his return — or face execution. On the third night, these faithful young men took some provisions and quietly left the city. Along the way, they met a shepherd grazing their family’s goats. They told him their story and invited him to embrace the faith. The shepherd accepted and joined them. His loyal dog followed along as well.
The Cave Traveling through the night, they reached a cave about 6 miles from the city by morning. After eating, they fell asleep — which is why they are called Ashab-e-Kahf, meaning “Companions of the Cave.”
The Cave Sealed Upon returning from his journey, Daqyanus learned they had taken shelter in the cave. He ordered a wall to be built over the cave’s entrance, intending them to die of hunger and thirst, making it their tomb. The official assigned this task had their names, number, and full story engraved on a tablet made of fine lead (a dark bluish metal used for bullets and pellets — Feroz-ul-Lughat, p. 874), which was then sealed inside a copper chest and placed in the foundations of the wall.
Ghaar (The Cave) Mein 309 Saal Ki Neend Ka Mojza
309 Years of Sleep The Companions of the Cave slept for approximately 309 years without waking for even a single moment from any sound. During this time, many kings rose and fell — until a righteous king named Baydarus came to power. In his era, various trials arose, one being that some people began denying resurrection after death and the coming of the Day of Judgment.
Badshah Baydarus Ka Daur Aur Ashab-e-Kahf Ka Jagna
The King’s Prayer Answered Baydarus, witnessing this, cried out to Allah: “O Allah, reveal a sign that gives people certainty in resurrection and the Day of Judgment.” Allah accepted his prayer — a shepherd chose that very cave for his flock to rest, and together with others, knocked down the wall at its entrance. As the wall fell, such awe overtook the people that they all fled. After the wall came down, the Companions of the Cave awoke — feeling as though they had only slept for one night.
Their Awakening Their faces were fresh and radiant, their clothes perfectly clean. Their dog lay at the edge of the cave with its paws stretched out. They had fallen asleep in the morning and when they awoke, the sun was close to setting. They offered their prayers and sent their companion Yamlaikha to buy food.
Yamlaikha Market Mein – Purane Sikke Ka Raaz
Yamlaikha in the Market Yamlaikha went to a baker’s shop and offered a coin from the era of Daqyanus. Seeing the ancient coin, the merchants thought he had discovered an old treasure and brought him before the governor. The governor asked, “Where is the treasure?” Yamlaikha replied, “This is no treasure — it is our own money.” The governor said, “How is that possible? This coin is 300 years old — we have never even seen one like it.”
Yamlaikha asked, “What has become of King Daqyanus?” The governor replied, “There is no king by that name today. A disbelieving king by that name existed hundreds of years ago.” Yamlaikha said, “It was only yesterday that we hid in the cave to escape Daqyanus! Come — let me introduce you to my companions.”
The Discovery The governor and many people headed toward the cave. Those inside, hearing voices approaching, feared that Yamlaikha had been captured and Daqyanus’s army was coming for them too. Yamlaikha arrived and explained everything. The governor noticed the chest at the cave’s edge, had it opened, and found the tablet inside describing the full story of the Companions of the Cave.
The governor informed King Baydarus, who came himself. Upon witnessing the Companions of the Cave, he prostrated in gratitude to Allah, for He had granted a miracle confirming resurrection after death and the reality of the Day of Judgment.
Their Souls Depart After this, the Companions of the Cave returned inside and lay down — and their souls were taken. King Baydarus placed their blessed bodies in wooden chests, ordered a mosque to be built near the cave, and designated a day each year for people to visit — celebrated like a festival (Eid).
